What you'll learn

  • 1Introduction to espresso machines and grinders — an overview of how they work and the differences between machine types (manual, semi-automatic, automatic).
  • 2Main components of espresso machines — an exploration of the internal and external components (groups, boilers, pumps, valves) and their function and maintenance.
  • 3Grinder adjustment techniques — setting the grind correctly for the coffee and brew method, and adjusting dose and grind time.
  • 4Diagnostics and troubleshooting — identifying common problems, troubleshooting techniques and basic repairs.
  • 5Preventive maintenance and cleaning — daily, weekly and monthly cleaning procedures and preventive-maintenance guidelines to extend the life of the equipment.
  • 6Basic repairs — replacing worn components (gaskets, filters, heating elements) and recalibrating the machines after any work.
  • 7Hands-on session and simulations — exercises in adjustment and maintenance and a simulation of repair work.
